Celebrate Fate

Celebrate Fate began in 2014 as a way of bringing existing and new neighbors together to form a community. 

With the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, there is trepidation in bringing thousands of residents together physically as we’ve done in years past. However, we still feel it is important to celebrate our community. This year, let's put the UNIITY in CommUNITY by encouraging our fellow Fate residents to join together through selfless acts of service for each other over a week-long event.

Celebrate Fate Kick-off Event

Saturday, September 19, 2020

from 5 – 8 p.m.

at Fate City Hall, 1900 CD Boren Parkway

This drive-thru event will feature LIVE entertainment, free t-shirts, free In-N-Out Burgers, and the opportunity to make food, monetary, or thrift store donation directly to Helping Hands of Rockwall County

The activities are to be completed from Saturday, September 19 through Friday, September 25.

  • Activities do not need to be organized only to be meaningful to the participant and recipient.
  • These activities are recorded by this online application and entered into a randomly picked drawing for a local gift certificate prize.
  • Entries must be received by Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at 5 p.m.
  • The winner will be randomly picked and contacted by email on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, to pick up a gift certificate from a local Fate Business at Fate City Hall, 1900 CD Boren Parkway.

Some examples could include:

  • Meet your neighbors and learn their names. 
  • Weed a garden (a neighbor, a park, downtown). 
  • Post a compliment on social media about the good that is happening around us. 
  • Pick up trash (neighborhood, park, downtown, anywhere). 
  • Send your neighbor an encouraging letter. 
  • Support a local store or visit a new local business. 
  • Adopt a pet from a shelter. 
  • Install a Little Free Library with books in your neighborhood. 
  • Make a donation to a church or non-profit.  
  • Play a concert from your yard for the neighbors.
  • Sunday, September 20, participate in the virtual TrashDash
  • Monday, September 21, participate in the Carter BloodCare drive
  • And many more ideas, be creative!

Two opportunities to donate blood will be available for 40 donors. 

  • Fate City Hall, 1900 CD Boren Parkway - Register Here
    • 7 AM until 12 PM 
  • Fate Community Center, 104 William E Crawford Ave. - Register Here
    • 2 PM until 7 PM

Helping Hands will be at Fate City Hall during the kick-off event. What better way to support our community than to make donations to the food bank or thrift store. These donations directly benefit the Rockwall County community by serving those most in need.

  • The drive-thru donations will be "trunk only." Donators will not get out of their cars but simply open their trunks for volunteers to remove donated items.
  • Large bulky items will not be accepted during this drive. However, they can be taken directly to Helping Hands during their normal business hours. 
  • The food pantry is in most need of the following items. Please focus on these items.

Food Pantry Needs: 

  • Mashed Potatoes 
  • Sugar
  • Oil
  • Canned Chicken
  • Canned Tuna
  • Feminine Hygiene Products
  • Ramen Noodles
  • Chili
  • Macaroni & Cheese

Trash Dash advertisment

Plogging is a combination of jogging with picking up litter. Grab a bag, gloves, and a litter picker if you have one and pick up litter in your neighborhood or local park while you jog. Once completed, share your experience on Instagram – be sure to tag @CityofFate, @KeepAmericaBeautiful, and include the hashtags #FateStrong, #CelebrateFate, #DoBeautifulThings, and #TrashDash.


In-N-Out Burger® - The first 2,000 drive-thru visitors will receive a FREE meal sponsored by In-N-Out Burger®


A limited number of free festival t-shirts will be distributed while supplies last.
